APRIL 5 | NATIONAL DAY OF PROTEST: "HANDS OFF!"
On April 5th, people in all 50 states—and across the globe—took to the streets to say enough is enough. From New York to Nebraska, and in cities across Canada and Europe, protestors united to push back against Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s billionaire agenda. As they tank the economy for corporate gain, working people are left to deal with rising costs, gutted social programs, and unchecked political power.
This was the largest coordinated protest since Trump’s return to office—a powerful show of resistance demanding an economy that works for everyone, not just the ultra-rich.
The world is watching, and the people are mobilizing.
MAGA extremists are coming for Social Security, and we can’t let them win. Office closures and staffing cuts are putting 73 million Americans—retirees, survivors, and disabled workers—at risk. A quarter of seniors rely on Social Security entirely to survive. Congress is on recess from April 11-27—this is our chance to demand action. Pack their town halls. Flood their offices. If they won’t show up, call the press and make noise.
📢 Take Action: ✅ Plan an office visit or town hall with Indivisible’s guides ✅ Join your local Indivisible chapter ✅ Say NO to billionaires stealing our hard-earned benefits for tax cuts.
Jewish students at Columbia University chained themselves to a campus gate outside the School of International and Public Affairs, demanding answers in the case of Mahmoud Khalil — a former SIPA student who was arrested by ICE. Protesters braved cold and rain, calling on the university to release information about its potential role in Khalil’s targeting and detainment. Democracy Now! was on the scene, speaking with both Jewish and Palestinian students who say Columbia must be transparent and accountable. Watch now to hear directly from the students on the frontlines.
National security expert Malcolm Nance joins The Stephanie Miller Show to break down Sen. Cory Booker’s historic filibuster, setting the record for the longest time holding the floor in Congress. While his stand is giving people hope, the mainstream media took hours to even acknowledge it was happening. Meanwhile, Donald Trump declares a so-called National Tariff Day, despite Americans still facing higher prices at the cash register. How is the media failing the public? And what does Booker’s filibuster mean for the fight ahead? Tune in for the full conversation!
