Detention camps in Israel, which have drawn comparisons to concentration camps, increasingly come under scrutiny for the horrifying conditions faced by the Palestinian prisoners held within. Delegates from the Uncommitted National Movement, joined by their allies, staged a sit-in protest during the Democratic National Convention last week in Chicago. This action came after the DNC denied their request to allow a Palestinian American to speak onstage while granting time to the family members of an Israeli American hostage. The sit-in amplified frustrations over what many saw as an imbalance in the representation of voices at the convention, particularly on issues relating to the Middle East. Protesters expressed their concerns about the lack of inclusion and the silencing of Palestinian perspectives on the national stage.
