Gay USA

Brendan Fay's documentary, "Taking a Chance on God," explores the extraordinary life and work of pioneering gay Catholic priest and theologian Rev. John McNeill, whose centenary is being marked this year. (He died in 2015 at age 90.) McNeill was a co-founder of Dignity/NY and author of the groundbreaking "The Church and the Homosexual" (1976)--affirming gay love in the context of Christianity--which attracted worldwide media attention and for which McNeill was punished by the Vatican.
