Free Speech TV Discontinues Use of Twitter/X Following New Data-Sharing Policies

Denver, CO — Free Speech TV (FSTV) has made the decision to discontinue its use of Twitter/X effective immediately, following the platform’s recent policy update allowing data sharing with third-party organizations, including AI firms. FSTV executive leadership reaffirmed that it remains firmly committed to protecting the privacy of its community and upholding the standards required of independent, non-commercial, media organizations.

The new data-sharing policies at Twitter/X are incompatible with the organization’s privacy policy. These changes could enable third-party AI firms to access user data in ways that are inconsistent with FSTV’s values and commitments to transparency, accountability, and safeguarding community trust.

“At Free Speech TV, we believe in upholding the highest standards of integrity and privacy for our viewers and supporters,” said Lydia Fiser, Co-Executive Director. “Twitter/X’s policy changes undermine these principles, and continuing to use the platform would compromise the trust we’ve built over decades. We owe it to our community to stand by our values and take this step.”

FSTV is encouraging its viewers to join Netroots Nation and New Media Mentors for their webinar, The Twitter eXit and the Bluesky Era, on Thursday, November 21, 3:00-4:15 pm ET, to learn how progressives are using Bluesky and then participate in a brief orientation of the social media network.

FSTV is also inviting its community to stay connected through alternative platforms where it will continue to share vital content and engage with its audience. You can find and follow FSTV on:

“We remain committed to providing independent news and analysis that informs and empowers our audience,” said Lydia Fiser. “We deeply appreciate our viewers for standing with us as we navigate these changes to prioritize our mission and your privacy.”
